Malaysia is an important member of ASEAN and the China ASEAN Free Trade Area. The economic and trade cooperation between China and Malaysia is strong and fruitful, playing an important role as a driving force and propeller in the bilateral relationship. According to relevant reports, when the two countries established diplomatic relations in 1974, the bilateral trade volume was less than 200 million US dollars. By 2024, according to the first quarter data and related forecast data, it is expected to exceed 200 billion US dollars for the whole year, setting a new high and achieving a growth of over a thousand times in 50 years. ASEAN has been China's largest trading partner for four consecutive years, while China has been ASEAN's largest trading partner for 15 consecutive years. Malaysia is China's second largest trading partner and largest source of imports among ASEAN member countries. The long-term stable and friendly relationship between the two countries is the main reason for the sustained growth of bilateral trade. Minister Lu Zhaofu has been in politics for nearly 20 years, overseeing the construction and operation of various transportation projects in Malaysia, and actively promoting the continuous deepening of cooperation between China and Malaysia in areas such as ports, railways, and aviation. In his view, as the first ASEAN country to establish diplomatic relations with China, Malaysia has not only witnessed China's rapid development, but also witnessed China's contribution to the world economic development, including ASEAN countries. He stated that the economic and trade exchanges, as well as personnel exchanges between China and Malaysia, are very close. China plays a very important role in the development process of Malaysia. This visit is also aimed at exploring more economic cooperation models by inspecting Chinese enterprises. He hopes that more Chinese enterprises can visit Malaysia and carry out cooperation in the future, injecting new impetus into the development of enterprises and even the economic and cultural exchanges and development between China and Malaysia. After the talks, our staff accompanied Minister Lu Zhaofu and his delegation to the power generation production and port site of the South China Sea Energy Base for a visit and inspection. Minister Lu Zhaofu and his delegation highly praised the efforts of our South China Sea Energy Base under China Jingxin Power Holding Group Co., Ltd. in power, environmental protection and promoting the local economic and social development, providing jobs and other aspects, and sincerely invited us to Malaysia for a visit and inspection. They pointed out that after the implementation of the visa free policy between China and Malaysia, the personnel exchanges between the two sides have greatly increased, bringing new impetus to the transport cooperation between the two countries. They hope that China Jingxin Power Holding Group and its enterprises can cooperate with Malaysian officials or the business community in related fields in the future, so as to achieve mutual benefit and win-win results, and contribute to the development of the two countries. The "the Belt and Road" initiative has yielded more fruitful results in Southeast Asia, Better benefit the local people.
